Donated books prepared for the KO/KIHS communities by youth employees

Donated books soon to be sent to the KO/KIHS schools.

Post Secondary Students Wesley McKay and Nicole Morris from the KO Research Institute Office in Thunder Bay, spent several days preparing donated books that will be sent to the KO/KIHS schools.  Wesley McKay is studying at Lakehead University in Indigenous Learning, while Nicole Morris is at Confederation College in the Aboriginal Law and Advocacy program. Both are in their final year of study.

Wesley and Nicole spent several days organizing and packing books that will reach the KO/KIHS communities in the coming month of August.  The books are geared to readers from Kindergarten to High School level, and will be sent to the schools. As they were looking through the books, they found there was a variety of learning material and hoped the communities would enjoy the selection.  The books were donated from Southern Ontario.  Finding contacts for the KO/KIHS communities was an experience all in itself, due to the summer schedule of the schools.  Through the use of the IP Telephone (Internet Phone), one of KO`s communications equipment, they were able to find contacts to receive the donated books that will be sent the their communities. They have seen how the community members were more than willing to help them find contacts, and greatly appreciated their help. They enjoyed talking with community members and and hope they will have more opportunity to talk during their time with KO Research Institute.  For more information, call Wesley or Nicole at 1-877-7375638 extension 51263

Enjoy the books and have a safe summer.   To see photos.
